The man behind K-ESSENCE is Bartosz Księżyk, a singer-songwriter and producer, former frontman of the indie-rock act NeLL.

The K-ESSENCE debut album Prince of Pawns was released in 2014 on Requiem Records. The project was entirely crowdfunded on Megatotal.pl. A video for the single Prince of Pawns was awarded BEST MUSIC VIDEO at the Filmmaker’s Day 2014. The record received positice reviews praising the author’s “[…]versatility” and “[…]capacity for writing stylish songs in the classical spirit.”

In October 2015 K-essence gave a memorable performance at Soundedit Festival premiering their new album We Prefer the Night. The LP, which features the acclaimed string quartet Altra Volta, was released on Alchera Visions. An innovative, interactive video for Dangerous Man was been aired on MTV Germany and VIVA, and the album gained great reviews from both German (Westzeit, OxFanzine, Polyprisma) and Polish press (Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, Gazeta Wyborcza, FuckYouHipsters), including praise from foreign press in Poland.

We Prefer the Night reached German radio stations, becoming Die Album der Woche on Radio Hertz 87.9; the single Dangerous Man was featured on Negative White as the song of the week.

In 2018, K-essence releases This Party Isn’t Over video, shot in California and Arizona.

2019, a new single “Bengal Tiger” was released by Kayax’s sublabel My Name Is New. The controversial video questions the boundaries of an artist’s stage and private personas, their crossing over and interrelation, as well the role of an artist in society. The video was directed by Aleksander Kozłowski, K-essence’s long-time collaborator.

K-ESSENCE rounded off the year with a fantastic live TV perfomance in the semi-finals of Poland’s Got Talent.

Człowiekiem, który stoi a K-essence jest Bartosz Księżyk, były wokalista indie rockowego NeLL i producent.

Debiut K-essence Prince of Pawns został wydany w 2014 nakładem Requiem Records i w całości crowdfundowany przez fanów na Megatotal.pl. Klip do singla Prince of Pawns otrzymał nagrodę za Najlepszy Wideoklip na Dniu Filmowca 2014. Płyta zebrała bardzo pozytywne recenzje, a krytycy chwalili Księżyka za “[…]wszechstronność” and “[…]zdolność pisania piosenek w klasycznym stylu”.

W październiku 2015 K-essence dało pamiętny koncert na festiwalu producentów muzycznych Soundedit, gdzie zagrali nową płytę We Prefer the Night. Krążek, na którym wystąpił m.in. Kwartet Altra Volta został wydany przez Alchera Visions, a interaktywny teledysk do singla Dangerous Man gościł na playlistach niemieckiej Vivy i MTV. Płyta zebrała sporo entuzjastycznych recenzji w mediach niemieckich (Westzeit, OxFanzine, Polyprisma) i polskich (Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, Gazeta Wyborcza, FuckYouHipsters).

We Prefer the Night grane było w niemieckich radiostacjach, zostało Albumem Tygodnia w Radio Hertz, a Dangerous Man był Piosenką Tygodnia w portalu Negative White. W 2018 K-essence wypuszcza wideo do drugiego singla z tej płyty This Party Isn’t Over zrealizowanego w Kaliforni i Arizonie.

W lutym 2019 Kayax wydał singiel K-essence “Bengal Tiger”.

Później tego samego roku K-ESSENCE daje niezapomniany występ w półfinałach Mam Talent.

Od ogłoszenia lockdownu artysta co czwartek gra na żywo i rozmawia ze swoimi fanami na Facebooku w swoim programie LiveFromStudio, gdzie 30. lipca premierę ma też płyta UNISON, która została wybrana m.in. Płytą Tygodnia w Radio Bielelfeld.

W grudniu 2020 ukazuje się kolejna płyta EssentialCovers. Nagrana na żywo i sfilmowana w ChCK, płyta zawiera 9 utworów, które w istotny sposób towarzyszyły K-ESSENCE w czasie nagrywania Unison.
